UCAS data
This is the summary data section of the UCAS website, which tables applicant, application and accepted applicant data over the last five years. Data and supporting information on each of the key variables is provided, together with guidelines on what else is available and where to find further information.

Annual datasets
UCAS Annual Datasets are spreadsheets - available from our website - which provide all of our customers with applicant, course and institution statistics at a national level. They are free to download and are available for 1996 to 2005 entry. 2005 entry datasets are now available. From 2000 entry they are also available separately for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Applicant postcode tracking
Updated weekly throughout the year (usually beginning in March), this web service provides member institutions with details of their own current-cycle applications, and their decision and reply status. Applicants are mapped by postcode, and age, gender, MOSAIC lifestyle and schools information is also provided.

Operational statistics
The operational statistics are produced for UCAS institutions six times a year for UCAS application forms received by 1 November, 15 November, 1 December, 15 January, 24 March, and 30 June. Some tables count individual applications to the various subject areas and others use a weighting to derive an "applicant-equivalent" for each subject. The tables either compare the current year with the corresponding date in the previous year, or include a breakdown into male and female and home and overseas (by domicile). There are separate versions for degree and HND courses.

The operational statistics are distributed as printed tables and are available electronically on request. For further details, please contact stats@ucas.ac.uk tel: 01242 544896 quoting OW1.

Management statistics
Management Statistics are sent to all member institutions twice a year - this year in January relating to the 2005 complete entry cycle, and in April relating to January 15th mid-year 2006 data. They provide a course level summary of their own applications and, for end-of-year, accepted applicants. They include aggregate data for the same course codes nationally and show where else, and for which subjects, their applicants also applied. They are available in web browser format and as comma-separated (CSV) files.

For further details, please contact stats@ucas.ac.uk tel: 01242 544896 quoting OW2.

Statistical enquiry service
The statistical enquiry service is an interactive web tool with which you can devise your own tables containing data to match your specific requirements. This service enables non-statistical and non-technical users, as well as those more familiar with UCAS statistics, to interrogate UCAS data with ease and accuracy.

News releases
Each year we publish a series of news releases that provide detailed statistics relating to key dates in the UCAS application cycle. These news releases show applications received by the following closing dates, and are usually issued two or three weeks after:

  • 15 October, the closing date for courses leading to professional qualifications in medicine, dentistry and veterinary science/medicine and for all courses at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge.

  • 15 January, the closing date for most other courses.

  • 24 March, the closing date for applications for art and design through the sequential route.

  • 30 June, the last date for receipt of late applications. Applications received after this date will be held for Clearing.

Applications digest
Applications digests show the number of applications received by each university and college and a comparison with the position at the same time last year, and accompany the 15 January, 24 March and 30 June news releases.

Clearing statistics
Following the publication of A-level results we usually issue statistical news releases about the number of accepted applicants. We also publish a one-page statistical summary on the UCAS website daily.
