What is net.update?

net.update allows UCAS institutions to check and update their information directly, by giving them direct access to the UCAS database. This information is used for the application system, publications, course statistics and the UCAS website.

Benefits

  • Immediate access to data means that changes are quickly reflected on the UCAS website and in the application system

  • The amount of paperwork will be reduced

  • An institution can allow access to any number of users

  • An Institution Administrator will control three levels of access: approver, editor and read-only

Prerequisites

  • Internet access and a browser (Netscape version 4.08 or higher, or Internet Explorer version 4 or higher) are required

  • There is no software to install and no changes need to be made to university networks or firewall security

What changes can be made?

Using net.update, users can:

  • Add details of new courses and amend or delete existing course details. Include Entry Requirements and further information for publications. More information is provided here on the new BTEC Nationals

  • Add new sites and amend or delete existing sites

  • Amend information about the facilities and student numbers in universities and colleges

  • Add and edit Entry Profiles, via a separate section at http://www.ucas.ac.uk/profiles/index.html

  • Find out what information can be changed online and what cannot (i.e. those items which can be changed only by UCAS staff)

  • Depending on access level, view, edit and approve information prior to final preparation for publication

Security

  • The latest data encryption techniques are used at every stage

  • Use of a password ensures that an institution can only access its own data

  • Software checks in the system ensure the integrity of the UCAS database

Use web-link service to update your UCAS course information.
