Acceptances up in Malaysia
Almost 31,000 students have secured a place through the UCAS Clearing system so far this year, up 1.2% on the same point last year and up 4.3% on 2005.

Almost 18,000 students have secured a place through the UCAS Clearing system so far this year, up 10.1% on the same point last year and up 15.7% on 2005.

Record numbers placed so far
A record 345,904 applicants due to start full-time undergraduate courses this autumn have been placed through UCAS so far this year. This breaks the previous record set in 2005 when 335,912 applicants had a place confirmed by this point.

Thousands of students from across the country are eagerly awaiting A level exam results day on Thursday 16 August. Since the weekend (11/12 August) UCAS has been processing the exam results of around 430,000 students hoping to secure a place at university or college this year.

First figures for 2007 entry
The first figures from UCAS for the 15 October early closing date on the number of applicants for 2007 entry to full-time UK undergraduate courses show that applicants to Oxford and Cambridge universities are up by 4.3%, an increase of 1,153 from 26,665 last year to 27,818 this year.

Latest figures from UCAS show that 389,505 applicants have been accepted onto UK full-time higher education courses starting in 2006 compared with 404,668 in 2005 and 375,530 in 2004.
