UCAS Clearing Latest - Noon 16 August 2007

Confirmed applicants

311,620 applicants have had their places confirmed so far - 2,468 through Clearing.

Applicants eligible for clearing = 101,186

Applicants withdrawn from scheme = 6,045

Total number of applicants = 506,392

Clearing vacancies

There have been 313,353 searches of Clearing vacancies on the UCAS website so far. 37,202 courses are showing vacancies.

Top five subject searches - the top five searches are Law, Economics, Psychology, Business Management and History

Track - the service at ucas.com that applicants use to check their status - had received 313,845 logins by 11am, peaking at 70 logins per second. The peak last year was 42 logins per second.

UCAS Helpline

Opened at 8am. 5000 calls answered by 11am answered within 6 seconds.

The government's exam results helpline had received 710 calls by 11am after opening at 8am.

A further update is due after 4pm where we will be able to provide some comparative figures with last year.
