Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art & Design)

An enduring feature of progression to art and design undergraduate studies is the large number of students who complete a one-year art foundation course after sixth-form studies.

Most towns and cities have an art foundation course, and in large urban areas there is likely to be a choice of several courses.

For application purposes, you should apply direct to the college or university concerned (the institution will supply its own application form) and not through UCAS.

Art foundation courses are classified as further education and are therefore not eligible for the purposes of obtaining a student loan. However, no tuition fees will be charged to home and EU students under 19 years of age at Local Education Authority (LEA) run courses. The only exceptions, offered by independent, fee-paying colleges, are marked with an asterisk.
